Here are two more from our trip to Warner Springs. These two are painted at the intersection of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and the California Hiking and Riding Trail (CHRT). My husband and kids hiked up the PCT for a half-day hike to Eagle Rock, and I stayed and painted.
We really had great weather while we were out there. It seems like it could get hot in the summer, but we hit it just right.

Oaks and Wildflowers

This spring we spent some time near Warner Springs, enjoying California the way it once was- before it was "developed." I love the oaks with their strong character and the carpet of poppies and other wildflowers. We had terrific weather, too- perfect for plein air. "Oaks and Wildflowers" 8x10, oil.

Thanks to those who came out to ArtWalk!
Thank you to all of those folks who braved the heat and raging water at ArtWalk a few weekends back. It was a successful weekend and I really enjoyed talking with all of you. I've already signed up for next year, so mark your calendars for April 25th and 26th, 2009. I think the water mains are scheduled for an overhaul this year, so perhaps 2009 will lack the excitement of water flowing through the streets!
Here are a couple of sketches I've done since ArtWalk while relaxing at Torrey Pines.
