River Days 2007- the Estuary from Quivera, 9 x 12, oil on prepared panel
This was done as a part of the River Days festivities put on by the San Diego River Park Foundation. "The vision of the San Diego River Park is a greenbelt from the mountains to the ocean along the 52 mile long San Diego River." What a fantastic cause!
Although the day was the epitome of "May Gray" there was so much to be learned from it. Perhaps the motto of my day was "make the most of it." I saw hints of color in the sandbars and the distance and tried to emphasize and push it just a bit.

SD River Estuary, revisited
SD River, revisited, 8 x 10, oil on panel
I painted this last week. I've been doing several paintings of the SD River in preparation for River Days, a celebration of the river and a day for clean up and building awareness. The Sage Group is hosting a plein air paint out on Saturday morning. Should be fun. I'm looking forward to it!
