ZLAC Rowing Club paintings

This past summer I had a great opportunity to go out and take some photos of one of the Women's rowing teams from ZLAC Rowing Club. I used these as reference for a series of paintings that were presented at the Club in August. Here are a few, more on the website.

I love these paintings, Liz. I'll bet it took hours of just observation!! Before you even started to paint.

I looked at your river series as well and am very impressed. My daughter and son-in-law live in San Diego and I know that there are many beautiful places to paint.

It looks like you have managed to make interesting subjects even more beautiful. I'll let my SD kids know about your work, too.

Hi Marian- thanks so much for your comments. I did do a some plein air studies that I referred to. Only took photos from the coaches' boat though- waaay to choppy to make a good mark! :) I love painting the SD River- it runs through the city and many don't even know it's there.

Hi Liz!....Enjoyed seeing your Rowing Series....brought back memories of my own home town Brockville,Ontario, Canada...on the shores of the St Lawrence River...with its own BRC traditions going back a hundred years and a couple of World Champions and Royal Henley competitors in its clubhouse trophy room.
Early morning on the water on a river... when most of the rest of the world still is asleep is a solitude to be "sipped"...and enjoyed... for years after the canoe paddle and oar have been "retired".
One "River Boy" thanks for the memories...renewed!Enjoy your site...am a "Follower" now.
Cheers!...and Good Painting!
